Job Description


PeaceHealth is seeking candidates with clerical experience for a  Medical Staff Assistant II position at St. John Medical Center in Longview, WA.  This is a .5 FTE  day shift position that will work 40 hours every two weeks in the Medical Staff Services department providing administrative support.

Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 including 2 doses of a 2-dose series or 1 dose of a 1-dose series plus 14 days beyond the final dose prior to start date.


Position Details:

  • Provides support to the Medical Staff Coordinators in their efforts to meet requirements of the Medical Staff Bylaws, Joint Commission standards and other applicable federal, state and local regulatory and/or accrediting agencies. 
  • Supports the administrative needs of the elected medical staff officers and administrative medical directors. 
  • Provides resources and support to various Medical Staff Department/Committee meetings and activities with coordination of agendas, meeting notices, meeting minutes, and follow-up.
  • Enters, maintains, queries and reports data in the physician credentialing software system. Maintains the “Standards of use” of physician credentialing software system for all PH regions.
  • Queries applicable agencies and organization in accordance with Medical Staff policy and Joint Commission standards as requested or assigned by Coordinators.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Completion of business school or secretarial science training required OR  a combination of education and experience that provides the caregiver with the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job.
  • Three years of clerical experience in formal office environment required.   
  • Proficient computer use including MS Office applications.
  • Skills in problem-solving, verbal and written communication, and organizing and disseminating complex and confidential information is demonstrated.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Administrative experience in Medical Staff Services Office or in medical office /healthcare setting.
  • Certification by the National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMMS) as a Certified Professional Medical Staff Management (CPMSM) or a Certified Professional Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology highly preferred.


  • Work requires moderate physical exertion 34 to 65% of the time.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing 80 lbs. or less.
  • Work requires frequent exposure to minor cold, heat, poor ventilation or sharp instruments. Reasonably anticipated exposure to blood and body fluids daily.
  • Job duties frequently require intense concentration and attention to detail (34-65% of work time).
