Patient Telesitter; Per Diem/Relief, 0.00 FTE, Night position.

Hourly compensation is $20.09 - $31.55; hiring rate dependent on qualifications and professional experience and/or terms of Collective Bargaining Agreement.

PeaceHealth has been serving the communities of northwest Washington since 1890. PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center is a 253-bed, two-campus hospital providing a Level II Trauma Center and a full range of inpatient and outpatient services.

Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 including 2 doses of a 2-dose series or 1 dose of a 1-dose series plus 14 days beyond the final dose prior to start date.

DETAILS OF THE POSITION

  1. Utilizes nursing assistant skills to provide continuous remote monitoring, support and observation of assigned patients through a Telesitter software system. Coordinates relief when leaving the station, to maintain constant patient observation.
  2. Maintains visual patient observation at all times. Verbally redirects patient over digital 2-way audio device as needed to ensure patient safety. Summons nursing staff if the patient requires assistance.
  3. Provides patient with explanations as necessary through monitoring system voice output. Escalates to clinical staff on unit.
  4. If patient appears to pose a threat to themselves or others, escalates to clinical staff on the unit.
  5. Ensures patient’s primary language, if other than English, is assigned in system.

WHAT YOU BRING (Required unless otherwise stated)

  • Successful completion of monitoring equipment class within 1 month of hire.
  • Current CNA certification required at time of hire
  • Current, Basic Life Support certification at time of hire.

ST JOSEPH PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS

  • Work requires moderate physical exertion to include prolonged periods of standing from 34% to 65% of the time.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing 50 lbs. or less.
  • Work requires frequent exposure to minor cold, heat, poor ventilation or sharp instruments; reasonably anticipated exposure to blood and body fluids once per month or more; hazards may include exposure to cleaning chemicals and disinfectants, soiled linens, unknown liquid in trash bags and biohazards (sharps).
  • Duties require the ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail (more than 65% of work time).
  • There are ergonomic risks identified for each Environmental Services Technician (EST) assignment.
