PeaceHealth is seeking a Surgical Support Aide - Operating Room for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Evening position.  Hourly compensation starts at $17.73, more depending on experience.

Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 including 2 doses of a 2-dose series or 1 dose of a 1-dose series plus 14 days beyond the final dose prior to start date.

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for assisting in tasks involving patient care and maintenance of the operating room. The primary focus is to help with set-up and efficient turnover of the operating rooms and caring for the instruments and equipment to be used during the surgical procedure.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Assist in pulling instruments and supplies for surgical procedures. Set up equipment for surgical procedure.
  2. Order and restock inventory and supplies for department. Stock and put supplies away in individual operating rooms.
  3. Clean, disinfect, and sterilize equipment. Assists with clean-up and room turnover.
  4. Provide assistance with moving and lifting patients. Transport patients.
  5. Transport specimens to appropriate area/unit.
  6. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

  • Previous experience with sterile/aseptic techniques preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required at date of hire.

OTHER SKILLS:

  • Well organized, detail oriented and self-motivated.
  • Ability to coordinate activities and work collaboratively with others.
  • Basic computer/keyboarding skills including MS Office applications.
  • Understanding of operating room protocols.

COMMUNITY/LOCATION SPECIFIC NOTES:

Oregon West Network:

  • Six months of patient care experience required.
  • CNA or Medical Assistant certification preferred.

RIVERBEND PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work requires active physical exertion at least 66% of the time.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing 50 lbs. or less.
  • Work requires frequent exposure to skin or lung irritants extreme cold or heat sharp instruments or, dangerous equipment; reasonably anticipated exposure to blood and body fluids once per month or more.
  • Job duties frequently require intense concentration and attention to detail (34-65% of work time).
