PeaceHealth is seeking a Manager, Philanthropy for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Day position.

Hourly compensation is $49.85 - $74.78; hiring rate dependent on qualifications and professional experience.

Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 including 2 doses of a 2-dose series or 1 dose of a 1-dose series plus 14 days beyond the final dose prior to start date.

The Philanthropy Manager (PM) for PeaceHealth SW Medical Center Foundation is a new position whomanages all aspects of major gift fundraising, including campaigns. The PM carries a portfolio and has an annual goal to raise a minimum of $2M. The PM works in collaboration with the Network CDO and other leaders, staff, and volunteers to identify and classify prospective donors and ensure the implementation of timely cultivation and solicitation strategies. Responsible for managing major gift staff as well as maintaining the major gift prospect pipeline, plan, and timeline, fundraising progress reports, and goals, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities in support of fundraising goals and priorities.

Located in Vancouver, WA, PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center is the community’s primary hospital, the only Level II Trauma Center in SW WA and the county’s largest employer. The hospital embarked on a Comprehensive Campaign in 2021 with a focus on doubling the size of the emergency department and re-structuring the way care is provided for complex, multiple-visit patients through community agency partnerships.

JOB SUMMARY

Manages all aspects of major gift fundraising, including campaigns and works in collaboration with the Network CDO and other leaders, staff, and volunteers to identify and classify prospective donors and ensure the implementation of timely cultivation and solicitation strategies. Responsible for managing major gift staff as well as maintaining the major gift prospect pipeline, plan, and timeline, fundraising progress reports, and goals, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities in support of fundraising goals and priorities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Develops and executes a systematic, strategic plan to diversify, strengthen and increase the funding base and develop new sources of funding, for both capital campaign and other major gift initiatives.
• Works with staff, leadership, and volunteers to create and manage campaign/major gift initiatives prospect portfolios and to develop cultivation and solicitation strategies.
• Develops ongoing relationships with key prospects and donors.
• Provides monthly and bi-weekly reports regarding fundraising goals and initiatives and progress to the network CDO.
• Oversees and advises on briefings and strategies for key leaders involved with principal and major gift donors and prospects.
• Manages all major gift fundraising staff.
• Coordinates all necessary campaign/major gift meetings.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor’s Degree in fundraising, business administration, communication, marketing or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in major and principal gift experience in a healthcare, academic medicine or higher education environment required.
• Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience required.
• Background in capital campaign development for healthcare preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION

• Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) is preferred.

OTHER SKILLS:

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to lead staff and work well as a member of a team.
• Must be able to take initiative and maintain good communications with staff, donors, and colleagues.
• Proven track record with donor development.
• Understanding of the principles of philanthropy, healthcare and relationship management.
• Ability to cultivate and maintain effective relationships with prospects, donors, and volunteers.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop relationships of trust and respect with administrators, physicians, board members, volunteers, and development colleagues.
• The ability to work effectively in a complex environment, both independently and as a member of a fundraising team.
• Ability and willingness to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends.
• Ability to embrace the fundraising ethics of compassion and PeaceHealth Mission.

PHYSICAL / COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS

• Work requires fairly light physical exertion from up to 65% of the time.
• Ability to lift objects weighing 30 lbs. or less.
• Work is performed under normal working conditions with adequate lighting and ventilation.
• Job duties frequently require intense concentration and attention to detail (up to 65% of work time).
