PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center is seeking a NICU Speech Pathologist - Acute Therapy for a Per Diem/Relief, 0.00 FTE, Day position.  Hourly compensation starts at $37.73, more depending on experience.

Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 including 2 doses of a 2-dose series or 1 dose of a 1-dose series plus 14 days beyond the final dose prior to start date.

Schedule: Two days a week, plus covering for vacations

JOB SUMMARY

Provide speech therapy services in a Level III NICU (change to OT or SLP for other job postings). Treatments would include providing developmental care and feeding therapy for infants born at 26 weeks gestation to term. Potential to work in NICU follow-up feeding clinic. Responsible for the evaluation of patients, determining plan-of-care and goals of treatment, participating in treatment of patients within the scope of Speech and Language Pathology. Provides oversight to conditional licensees in the clinical fellowship year and students, in following the plan-of-care and treatment of patients appropriate to the age of the patient served; provides supervision to therapy aides and volunteers. Works as part of a patient care team toward the best outcomes for the patient.

What you will do:

  1. Evaluates assigned patients and establishes a treatment plan and goals, using data from a variety of sources, such as patient records, interviews, observation and team members.
  2. Completes patient treatment according to plan of care and modifies plan to meet patient needs, and updates plan as appropriate.
  3. Completes documentation accurately, timely, according to regulatory and state licensure requirements, and within professional standards.
  4. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals as necessary to ensure smooth continuous care of the patients. May act as a liaison with nursing, medical and other therapy staffs to facilitate problem solving and coordination of other services and act as an educational resource.
  5. Mentors and provides oversight to new caregivers, conditional licensees in the clinical fellowship year, and therapy aides. Provides clinical instruction and training to students.

What you bring:

  • Master’s or Doctorate of a Speech and Language Pathology program accredited by the American Speech and Hearing Association required.
  • NICU experience 
  • Current Speech Pathology License from the state licensing board of Washington
  • Clinical Certificate of competence from American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA)
  • Current American Heart Association BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required at date of hire.
  • Minimum two years of feeding experience preferred

  • PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center: May be required to cover as an Admission Coordinator/Rehab PPS Coordinator

SOUTHWEST PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS

  • Work requires fairly light physical exertion up to 33% of the time.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing 50 lbs. or less.
