Seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join PeaceHealth's comprehensive cancer care team.

PeaceHealth's St. Joseph Cancer Center team includes 4 Medical Oncologists, 3 Radiation Oncologists, 2 Physician Assistants, a Nurse Practitioner and numerous professionals who provide support services. Position is based in Bellingham. Our oncology physicians also rotate to cover satellite clinics on San Juan Island and in Ketchikan, Alaska. We also partner with PeaceHealth United General Medical Center in Sedro Woolley, Washington.

Qualifications:

  • Board Certified Nurse Practitioner or NCCPA-Certified Physician Assistant with post-training experience in Hematology/Medical Oncology preferred
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to work productively with patient, families, nursing staff, and other departments
  • Ability to work in an independent and interdependent relationship with members of the medical staff for consultation, collaboration, and/or referral
  • Demonstrated aptitude to effectively identify, evaluate, and address disease prevention and health promotion issues while administering quality patient care
  • Enthusiasm for educating patients and/or families about preventive care, medical issues, and use of prescribed medical treatments and/or medications as well as consulting on all cancer survivors at completion of therapy, creating treatment summary and care plan for survivors, collaborating with other patient caregivers and support services to address the needs of cancer survivors, and assisting physicians with follow up care of these patients
  • Ability to assess and manage oncology patients undergoing treatment who present with acute problems
  • Willingness to participate in quality improvement projects, tumor boards and other practice initiatives
  • Licensure in the State of Washington or ability to obtain.
