Located in Longview, PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center, PeaceHealth Medical Group, provide comprehensive specialty care for more than 185,000 patients per year in Cowlitz County, Washington. St. John Medical Center is the area’s sole community hospital and is a Level III trauma center providing dozens of medical specialty services and programs including emergency, trauma, heart, behavioral health, bone and joint, cancer, birthing and women’s services

Consider joining our Behavioral Health nursing team in a  part-time position on the inpatient  Psychiatric Unit.  In this  .6 FTE, Evening shift, position  you will work three 8-hour shifts each week in our 22 bed unit.

  • Hourly compensation is $36.73 - $71.57; hiring rate dependent on qualifications and professional experience and/or terms of the St. John WSNA Collective Bargaining Agreement,sjmc wsna contract
  • Additional compensation for BSN, MSN, DPN, and specialty nursing certification.

JOB SUMMARY

Provides professional nursing direct patient care in compliance with professional practice and unit standards. Promotes a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach towards patients, families, and all members of the care delivery team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs.
  2. Documents patient care in the healthcare record according to established standards.
  3. Directs and delegates care to other team members in accordance with their education, credentials, and demonstrated competence.
  4. Ensures own professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
  5. Participates in the development of and maintains established hospital policies, procedures and objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection prevention program.
  6. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

  • Graduate of an accredited school/college of nursing.
  • One year of experience as a registered nurse. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs.
  • Current WA State Registered Nurse licensure
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required at date of hire.

OTHER SKILLS:

  • Demonstrated ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and patient/family centered work environment.
  • Able to support and interpret medical center philosophy, policy and procedures.
  • Basic computer skills

PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work requires active physical exertion up to 33% of the time.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing 80 lbs. or less.
  • Work requires frequent exposure to minor cold, heat, poor ventilation or sharp instruments. Reasonably anticipated exposure to blood and body fluids once per month or more.
  • Duties require the ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail (more than 65% of work time).
