PeaceHealth is seeking a Payroll Specialist Limited Duration (12-18 months) for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Benefitted, Day position. Hourly compensation is $24.35 – $36.53; hiring rate dependent on qualifications, professional experience, and/or work location.

This position will be performed fully remote. If telecommuting, PeaceHealth will provide the caregiver with necessary computer equipment. It is the responsibility of the caregiver to provide Internet access.

Must reside in Washington, Oregon, Texas or Alaska.

This position is responsible for preparing and inputting payroll data using an automated system to produce accurate and timely payroll. Processes and verifies payroll data to ensure correct wage payments to employees and provides support and aides in the payroll process including but not limited to tax filing, report writing, and assisting with inquiries and problem resolution.

Details of the position:

  • Audit time and attendance for all employees for consistency and accuracy, clarifying inconsistencies with supervisors.
  • Processes calculations for overtime, differential and other special adjustments in the computer system. Maintains knowledge and compliance with bargaining unit agreements with particular attention to language pertaining to pay issues, state payroll laws, and federal regulations.
  • Processes calculation of tax deductions, benefits and other deductions. May process manual payments for special payments, keeping appropriate records. Processes quarterly taxes, W-2s and garnishments.
  • Maintains compliance with policies and procedures related to payroll.
  • Coordinates direct deposit program and mails paychecks as necessary.
  • Reviews and resolves errors from audit reports.
  • Reviews and resolves employee and supervisory payroll questions. Assists employees in understanding payroll calculations and deductions.
  • Maintains knowledge of computer systems and software.
  • Maintains a variety of records and reports, compiling statistical or accounting information as requested. Provides reports and training to external and internal customers.

What I bring:

  • Three years payroll experience including demonstration of payroll rules and regulation, preferably for a large employer.
  • Certification as a Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
  • Analytical, financial management, creative problem solving, and decision making skills.
  • Ability to work responsibly in an environment with multiple work demands, short time frames, and minimal supervision.
  • Must have the ability to maintain high level of confidentiality, pay close attention to detail, and effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively across departments and disciplines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications including Excel and Word; automated time and attendance systems and HRIS systems.
  • Strong organizational skills
