PeaceHealth is seeking a Surgery Data Specialist II for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Day position. The general salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $19.44 – $30.21. The actual hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to, the job/position responsibilities, location, terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement, education, training, work experience, seniority, work performance, etc.

This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be more than one opening on this posting.

Job Summary

Responsible for entering the case charges and auditing operative record in the PICIS computer program database in a timely fashion. This data is used for reports for finance, business development, case analysis, etc.

Essential Functions

  • Enter charges for OR, PACU, ENDO and Anesthesia Clinic. Review audit reports and ensure accuracy of charge entry data.
  • Audit data of OR cases.
  • Use surgeon dictation and RN record to ensure all charges chargeable and procedural are captured.
  • Consult with OR Buyer on purchase orders and vendor related case charges. Communicate with OR Buyer and Implant Coordinator to ensure pricing and charges match.
  • Ensure accuracy of the electronic record.
  • Analyze OR record/data and make correcting entries to data as needed.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the effectiveness of the auditing/charges process.
  • Work with OR staff and other departments to determine appropriate charges for OR procedures as needed.
  • Analyze OR charges and charging structure as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • Associate Degree Preferred: Clinical Healthcare.

Experience

  • Preferred: Experience with charging system functions CPT, revenue codes and HCPCS and
  • Preferred: Clinical experience with knowledge of surgical supplies, instrumentation and procedures and
  • Preferred: Surgical Technologist experience

Credentials

  • Preferred : Certified Surgical Technologist

Skills

  • Familiarity with medical terminology (Required)
  • Knowledge of charging system functions with CPT, revenue codes, and HCPCS (Required)
  • Thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology and procedures (Required)
  • Adept and proficient in windows-based computer applications including spreadsheets, word processing, databases, and e-mail (Required)
  • Proficient keyboarding skills (Required)

Lifting

  • Consistently operates computer and other office equipment.
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

  • Predominantly operates in an office environment.
  • Some time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.

Mental/Visual

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
