PeaceHealth is seeking a Trauma Registrar for a Part Time, 0.80 FTE, Day position. The general salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $22.55 – $36.53. The actual hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to, the job/position responsibilities, location, terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement, education, training, work experience, seniority, work performance, etc.

This is a fully remote position but does require residence in either Oregon, Washington, Alaska, or Texas. If telecommuting, PeaceHealth will provide the caregiver with necessary computer equipment. It is the responsibility of the caregiver to provide Internet access.

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for managing Trauma Registry activities and facilitating continuous quality assessment and improvement in the delivery of trauma care by data collection, data management, data analysis, and reporting of trauma program activities and results.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Abstract patient data identified in the Trauma Registry and generate monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual reports to state, regulatory and other trauma agencies for the purpose of planning, management, and quality assurance.
  2. If applicable, may maintain: Trauma Committee records, minutes, agenda, and other appropriate documentation; Trauma Program policies, procedures, and forms.
  3. Participate in the preparation and maintenance of hospital Trauma Center designation.
  4. Supports concurrent review and data entry as well as ensures data submission to the State and other applicable agencies (i.e. National Trauma Data Bank, Trauma Quality Improvement Program, etc.) in the required timeframe.
  5. May coordinate Injury Prevention database.
  6. If applicable: facilitate and provide oversight of Trauma Registry updates as required by state DOH; participate and maintain currency of Trauma Registry Data Dictionary; participate in data validation process to ensure data accuracy.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Medical terminology.

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

  • Minimum of three years’ experience in healthcare (trauma) industry which includes a detailed knowledge of medical terminology, and medical records.
  • Formal training in ICD-10 coding preferred.
  • Minimum of one year directly related work experience abstracting and coding information using ICD-10 CM inpatient coding experience preferred.
  • Successful completion of anatomy course preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

  • Certified Trauma registrar preferred
  • Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) coding preferred
  • CCA (Certified Coding Specialist) preferred.
  • ICD-10 for Trauma Course successfully completed within 12 months of hire.
  • Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) coding certification required within 12 months of hire.
  • Successful completion of American Trauma Society Trauma Registrar Course within 12 months of hire.

OTHER SKILLS:

  • Proficient computer/keyboarding skills, including MS Office applications with emphasis on Excel.
  • Excellent customer service, communication and public relations skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to work in environment with predetermined productivity standards after orientation and training.

SOUTHWEST PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work requires normal amounts of physical effort at least 66% of the time.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing 10 lbs. or less.
  • Work is performed under normal working conditions with adequate lighting and ventilation.
  • Job duties occasionally require the ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail (less than 34% of work time).
