Springfield is located at the southern end of the Willamette Valley, also known as, Oregon wine country. Two rivers run through the community, the Willamette River, and McKenzie River. Job Summary

The Section Leader of PeaceHealth Medical Group is a leadership position, partnering closely with their administrative Dyad partner(s), in consultation with their respective Division Operating Committee (DOC). This Dyad is responsible for the day to day operations of their department(s), including, but not limited to, improving quality care, service excellence, safety, financial performance and caregiver/provider engagement. In addition to living the organizations mission, vision, and values, the Section Leader is expected to fulfill the PeaceHealth leadership model, while demonstrating the characteristics of a servant leader.

Essential Functions

  • Partners with department(s) operational leader to oversee clinical quality operational performance, provides feedback and recommendations for optimizing the standard of care.
  • Assists and supports providers in understanding and reaching performance targets. Actively participates in clinic and provider meetings (at least 80% attendance). Demonstrates effective communication to maintain understanding and two-way communication on organizational, operational, and clinical issues. Participates in administrative meetings and communications as needed to maintain expertise and provide feedback.
  • Supports and models behavioral standards in alignment with the Principles of Partnership, Caregiver and Leadership Models and helps ensure the achievement of clinical service goals. Leads, supports and participates with Division Chief,Network Physician VP, and/or CMO in resolving provider personnel issues.
  • In collaboration with the director of operations,clinic manager(s), and/or CMO, assists in physician recruitment, orientation and retention programs including determining physician staffing needs.-Interviews all providers who are candidates for a position in his/her division. Assesses the candidate and submits the assessment to the Recruitment Dept. prior to any hire decision.-Acts as the mentor for all new division providers or assigns an appropriate mentor and monitors the mentoring process.
  • Participates in and assists with leader standard work activities pertaining to clinic performance improvement, including regular Gemba rounding
  • Fosters effective working relationships and helps facilitate resolution to problems. May participate in meetings with physicians, nurses, support staff, and others as necessary.
  • Helps ensure the administration and operation of the clinic in an efficient manner, including suggestions for resolving issues.
  • Partners with operational leadership in the development, management, marketing, budgeting, and financial performance of the department(s).
  • Assists in the development and administration of a fair and equitable provider work schedule and timely communication of the schedule.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Accredited School of Medicine Required: 

Experience

Credentials

  • Required : Basic Life Support and
  • Required : Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine - Oregon or
  • Required : Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine - Washington and
  • Required : Medical Doctor - Washington or
  • Required : Medical Doctor - Oregon

Skills

  • Strong customer service focus. (Required)
  • Good organizational and communication skills, strong clinical skills. (Required)

Department / Location Specific Notes

Alaska: Section Leader reports to Chief Medical Officer (CMO).

Working Conditions

Lifting

  • Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
  • Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
  • Perform hands on CPR at least 20 mins using 100-125 lbs. of force (National Assoc. of EMS Physicians and AHA) Frequency should be seldom or occasionally.
  • Ability to move around area with frequent sitting.
  • Bending/ stooping / reaching occasionally.
  • Lifting (non-patient) up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.

Environmental Conditions

  • Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
  • Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.

Mental/Visual

  • Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
