Over 130 years ago, the Sisters of St Joseph came to the northwest corner of the Puget Sound to open a small community hospital. Fast forward to present day and PeaceHealth St Joseph is the sole community hospital and Level 2 trauma center, providing care to the North Puget Sound area.

PeaceHealth is seeking a Program Manager Continuing Medical Education for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Day position. The general salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $26.80 – $40.20. The actual hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to, the job/position responsibilities, location, terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement, education, training, work experience, seniority, work performance, etc.

Job Summary

Responsible for all physician education that is sponsored and accredited through the Continuing Medical Education (CME) program. Provides program management, administration and oversight to ensure that all CME activities comply with state and national accreditation standards and the CME Mission. Works with Medical Staff leadership, CME Committee(s), Quality, Peer Review, Patient Outcome and Department chairs to identify physician education needs and to develop courses that improve physician competence, performance, and patient outcomes. Supports CME Committee(s) regulatory oversight of CME activities.

Essential Functions

  • Facilitates consistent program delivery within departments and at joint sponsor organizations. Provides training, support, and mentorship, for the staff that coordinate educational activities.
  • Manages quality assurance in CME activities, including course design and implementation, application preparation and revision, budget development, commercial support relationships, grant procurement, and compliance with the state medical association and ACCME standards for Category 1 CME credit.
  • Serves as a resource on learning and course development. Ensures that content standards are applied such as learning objectives, identification of competencies, performance measures, etc.
  • Validates need for physician education and ensures that accredited activities are designed to improve patient safety, physician competence, physician performance, and/or patient outcomes.
  • Interprets changing ACCME, state medical association, and AMA requirements for creditable activities to ensure compliance with accreditation standards and to develop new educational modalities and programs for physicians.
  • Maintains integrity of CME accreditation standards, from application preparation and submission, through evaluation and approval or rejection by local and Network CME Committee(s).
  • Ensures activity files and database records are maintained in compliance with state medical association and ACCME accreditation standards.
  • Prepares annual reports for accreditation authorities, plus in-depth program analysis at re-accreditation intervals determined by the state medical association’s Medical Education Accreditation Committee.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



  • Required: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent knowledge and skills obtained through a combination of education, training and experience


  • Required: 3 years directly related experience in education and/or program planning and management  
  • Preferred: Prefer experience in continuing education in a healthcare setting



  • Proficient with MS Office applications (Required)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (Required)
  • Demonstrated collaborative and teamwork skills (Required)
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects with competing or overlapping deadlines (Required)

Working Conditions


  • Consistently operates computer and other office equipment.
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Sedentary work.

Environmental Conditions

  • Predominantly operates in an office environment.
  • Some time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.


  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
