PeaceHealth is seeking a Leave of Absence Consultant for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Day position. The general salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $36.55 – $54.83. The actual hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to, the job/position responsibilities, location, terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement, education, training, work experience, seniority, work performance, etc.

This remote role requires the incumbent must reside in OR, WA, AK or TX by date of hire.

Job Summary

Responsible for all aspects of the PeaceHealth leave of absence program, while ensuring compliance with all PeaceHealth policies, contracts, collective bargaining agreements and leave regulations. Navigates and provides policy interpretation, ensures legal compliance, and provides robust program management to address issues proactively to minimize risk. Oversees relationship and program setup with third party vendor to ensure leave and disability administration is held to a high service standard and meeting performance guarantees. Serves as a subject matter expert and resource for HR Partners, caregivers and managers.

Essential Functions

  • Serves as internal leave of absence subject matter expert (SME), designing, supporting, and educating the interpretation and consistent application of PeaceHealth policies and disability benefits.
  • Supports the development of education and information to ensure our leaders, caregivers, and HR Service Center understands our leave of absence programs, policies, systems, and processes.
  • Coordinates and problem solves with internal caregivers, leaders, and third-party vendors to resolve escalated, complex leave of absence issues and questions.
  • Tracks and researches leave utilization and trends, and provides insights to leadership. Supports leave metrics and dashboard reports for leadership on a recurring basis.
  • Manages our relationship with third party vendors to ensure that agreed upon service levels are met and any caregiver issues are promptly addressed. Establishes and maintains accuracy for benefit policies, ensures a high level of customer service and timeliness, and monitors service level agreements to ensure compliance with negotiated terms and conditions.
  • Monitors compliance updates and identifies process improvement recommendations for leave related opportunities and impacts.
  • Delivers written and verbal communications demonstrating skills within de-escalation, issue resolution, empathy, and concise, relevant fact summaries to manage service escalations.
  • Ensures data integrity by conducting regular system and payroll audits.
  • Recommends edits when needed to maintain up-to-date and legally compliant, standardized leave policies, procedures and on-going educational and regulatory communications. Acts or responds to recommendations for improvements to policy or administration relating to leaves of absence.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



  • Bachelor's Degree Human Resources or equivalent knowledge obtained through a combination of education, training and experience.


  • Minimum of 5 years experience in leave of absence management and/or administration.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of FMLA, state leaves in OR and WA (WPFL, PLO and OFLA) and how ADA can interact with leaves.
  • Experience with HR and LOA vendor systems to support efficient and accurate flow of data.


  • Global Professional in Human Resources or Certified Professional Disability Manager (CPDM) preferred.


  • Deep knowledge of leave laws/regulations.
  • Strong communication skills - written, presentation and verbal. 
  • Ability to collaborate and influence. 
  • Strong team player and ability to work with cross-functional teams. 
  • Proficient expertise in MS Office applications; advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong documentation on standardized deliverables and processes. 
  • Experience with Infor, Symplr and SharePoint preferred.

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
