PeaceHealth is seeking a Radiation Therapist for a Per Diem/Relief, 0.000001 FTE, Day position. 

The general salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $44.25 – $67.33. The actual hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to, the job/position responsibilities, location, terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement, education, training, work experience, seniority, work performance, etc.

This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be more than one opening on this posting.

Job Summary

Responsible for the accurate treatment, simulation, and dosimetry of patients undergoing ionizing radiation treatment in accordance with standards of practice.

Essential Functions

  • Administers prescribed doses of radiation to specific body parts using Linear Accelerator Equipment according to the established practices and Standards.
  • Performs dosimetric calculations under the supervision of a physicist or dosimetrist, using either manual or computerized dose calculations.
  • Assists with Brachytherapy procedures.
  • Warms up treatment machines/simulator and checks all safety and operational procedures; reports any erratic operation to the physicist
  • Checks the laser positioning to ensure proper alignment.
  • Verifies dose through barometer and thermometer measurements; reports any discrepancies to physicist.
  • Follows Principles of Radiation Protection for patient, self and others. Adhere to ALARA and other radiation safety requirements.
  • Positions Patients utilizing correct patient immobilization devices with accuracy according to simulation/prescription.
  • Adheres to Radiation Therapist Code of Ethics.
  • May train & supervise students or subordinate Radiation Therapists.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • Accredited Program: Radiologic Technology approved by ARRT program (AAS). (Required)

Experience

  • Prior experience. (Preferred)

Credentials

  • Radiology Technologist - Washington (Required) and
  • ARRT - Radiation Therapy (Required)  and
  • Basic Life Support (Required upon Hire)

Skills

  • Competent in treatment planning and dosimetry (Required)
  • Maintain quality assurance programs in accordance with departmental policy (Required)
  • Strong customer service skills, treat patients with empathy and respect (Required)
  • Demonstrated skills in use of computers and treatment programs (Required)

Working Conditions

Lifting

  • Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
  • Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.
  • Frequent Manual Dexterity and Tactile Sensitivity.
  • Frequent push/ pull/ carry/ stoop/ bend/ reach.
  • Occasional Kneeling.

Environmental Conditions

  • Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
  • Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.

Mental/Visual

  • Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
