PeaceHealth is seeking a Pharmacy Resident 2 for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Variable position. The general salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $24.96 – $37.44. The actual hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to, the job/position responsibilities, location, terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement, education, training, work experience, seniority, work performance, etc.

The Pharmacy Resident 2 (PGY2), working within their scope of practice, performs the duties of a pharmacist in accordance with established procedures and under the supervision of the residency preceptor and/or residency program coordinator. The PGY2 Resident is responsible for managing patients with complex chronic disease states under collaborative drug therapy agreements, while providing care within an interdisciplinary healthcare team that emphasizes patient-centered care. The PGY2 residency will focus on developing the knowledge, training, and skills necessary to cultivate pharmacists who are competent and compassionate practitioners who are prepared for a role as an ambulatory care pharmacist.

DETAILS OF POSITION:

  • Perform pharmaceutical services related to the preparation and dispensing of drugs and other pharmaceutical supplies in accordance with physicians' prescriptions.
  • Advise physicians and patients regarding the proper usage of prescribed drugs under strict supervision.
  • Conduct comprehensive appraisals of patient’s health status by taking health histories, drug histories, and performing physical assessment as necessary to assess drug therapy.
  • Evaluate drug therapy through clinical assessment, direct patient care involvement, subjective and objective findings relating to patient’s responses to drug therapy and communicating and documenting those findings and recommendations appropriately in the electronic medical record.
  • Provide patient and health care professional education and medication information.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy Required: Graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).
  • Required: Completion and certification of Pharmacist Resident (PGY1) program.
  • Required: Achievement of certificate of completion of a PGY1 residency program.
  • Preferred: Experience in computerized medical order entry and pharmacy profiles.
  • Required within 90 Days: Multi-State Registered Pharmacist.
  • Preferred: Basic Life Support.

  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team for healthcare delivery (Required)

Working Conditions

Lifting

  • Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.
  • Occasional squatting/ kneeling/ bending.
  • Fine motor skills to be able to grasp to perform precise procedures frequently.
  • Frequent reaching.
  • Lift/Carry: Occasionally up to 30 lbs.
  • Push/Pull: Occasionally up to 14 lbs. force.

Environmental Conditions

  • Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
  • Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment.

Mental/Visual

  • Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
