PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver, Washington is seeking a Radiology Technologist Student for a Per Diem/Relief, 0.00 FTE, Variable position. The general salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $31.70 – $47.54. The actual hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to, the job/position responsibilities, location, terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement, education, training, work experience, seniority, work performance, etc.

Under the direction of a Radiological Technologist, performs radiology procedures using judgement to select proper exposure, positioning, and meet patient care needs. Uses a variety of fixed and mobile radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment in various locations including surgery, nursing units, Emergency Department, satellite operations and main radiology department.

DETAILS OF POSITION:

  • Operates equipment and devices utilizing standard procedures, monitors device performance and ensure functionality.
  • Practices aseptic technique as necessary, assists with contrast media, assists the physician with imaging procedures, initiates life support measures for patients, if necessary, maintains all appropriate and required patient records, and procedure documentation.
  • Transfers patients as necessary.
  • Processes images by either automatic film process or digital radiography laser equipment as appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Required: Must be currently enrolled in the last year of an accredited 2–4-year Radiologic Technology Program and be in good standing.
  • Preferred: Previous experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Required Upon Hire: Basic Life Support.

  • Ability to position patients including proper beam-part-film alignment with respect to the source of radiation, selected imaging modality and area to be examined (Required)

PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center:

  • Radiology Technologist Student position/status is only granted until 2 months post-graduation date from an accredited Radiologic Technology Program, to allow time to acquire ARRT(R) certification.  Students have Radiology Technology registration until they acquire ARRT (R) certification.

Working Conditions

Lifting

  • Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
  • Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.
  • Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment.
  • Lift/Carry: Frequently up to 15 lbs. Occasionally up to 30 lbs.
  • Push/Pull: Frequently up to 13 lbs. force. Occasionally up to 30 lbs. force.
  • Reaching frequently.

Environmental Conditions

  • Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.

Mental/Visual

  • Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
