PeaceHealth is accepting applications for our upcoming Nurse Residency Program at St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham, Washington.

This is an exciting opportunity for new graduate nurses to enter a program providing technical excellence as well as nursing excellence, compassionate care for our patients and community. The Nurse Residency Program provides a comprehensive transition to practice program offering interactive, evidence-based curriculum designed to build clinical skills and competency in patient outcomes, leadership and the professional nurse role. This is a 12-month program reflecting the Mission, Vision and Values of PeaceHealth.

  • Hourly compensation is $40.09/hr - $76.12/hr; hiring rate dependent on qualifications and professional experience and/or terms of Collective Bargaining Agreement. WSNA Contract

To qualify for this program you must be:

  • A new graduate RN (or upcoming graduate) or a RN who has been licensed for less than 12 months with less than 6 months of Acute Care experience as an RN at time of application.

To be considered for the program you must include/complete the following (incomplete applications will not be accepted) If you are interested in multiple PH locations, you must submit an application to each hospital you are interested in:

Program Timeline / Step-by Step Process:

  • June 18th – Applications Open/Screening Process Starts
  • Mid October - Candidates will be contacted for interviews and interviews will be scheduled. All interviews will be conducted via Microsoft Teams. No in person interviews will be available.
  • November 5th-7th 2024 - Interviews will be held.
  • Start Dates- We will be offering start dates from December 16th, 2024 through February 10th, 2025. New grads must have an active RN license by date of hire. Start dates are determined by looking at several factors- NCLEX, Licensing, relocation and department needs.
  • Residency Seminars to begin March 2025

Position Commitments:

  • Ability to work 32 to 40 hours per week.
  • Available to work 8, 10 or 12-Hour Shifts.
  • Available to work, Day, Eve and Night Shifts
  • Flexible to work any day of the week as schedules rotate.
  • Able to participate in all program activities throughout the 12-month period.
  • Clinical Instructor and employment references will be required.
  • Willing to sign a 2-year commitment letter
  • New grads must remain in the department they are hired into for the 1st 18 months of employment per the WSNA Union contract.

Opportunities in the following departments may be offered (Residency openings vary each cohort): Med/Surg, Emergency Department, ICU, ICU step down , OR, Float Pool and Behavioral Health
