The Vice President (VP) of Surgical and Cardiovascular Services is a Registered Nurse (RN) who serves as the business leader accountable for procedural operations which includes oversight of and responsibility for perioperative standard setting, process improvement, optimization of operating rooms, catheterization labs, anesthesia, procedural resources, and financial accountability. This role oversees the local teams responsible for day-to-day operations, performance-related quality, safety, patient, and caregiver experience to ensure outstanding patient care to the community. The VP Surgical and Cardiovascular Services will build a culture of excellence and collaboration to enhance efficiency and enact quality programs. The incumbent is responsible for the development and execution of the strategic direction for surgical and cardiovascular services at assigned medical center(s) in partnership with our hospitals and ambulatory care sites. The VP develops, monitors, and executes strategic plans while engaging Surgical Chairs and their respective departments to ensure progress and advancement of the goals of assigned medical center(s). This position supports the Chief Hospital Executive and serves as a peer with other members of the executive leadership team which is accountable to deliver high quality patient focused care while supporting our mission at PeaceHealth.

Essential Functions

1. Creates and monitors infrastructure, systems, processes and standards to achieve desired outcomes as outlined in the strategic initiatives associated with assigned communities medical center or medical group practices.
2. Applies current knowledge and understanding of regulations, industry trends, current best practices, new developments, and applicable laws regarding assigned departments for operational and financial effectiveness. Ensures regulatory compliance for all areas of responsibility.
3. Provides leadership and direction to caregivers and clinicians. Creates and communicates a vision which motivates leaders to pursue high standards of excellence and achieve the PeaceHealth vision statement of exceptional and compassionate service to each patient, every time, every touch.
4. Advocates for the desired culture in high-level planning and decision making. Works in concert with Human Resources to develop workforce strategies including caregiver & provider engagement, workforce competency and labor management strategies. Serves as a key strategic operations leader for labor management team and collective bargaining responsibilities.
5. In partnership with the Finance, executive and operational leadership, develops, implements and manages operating and capital budgets of assigned services demonstrating effective stewardship of resources and achieving annual goals.
6. Collaborates with leaders and providers to formulate strategies and/or initiatives, to advance clinical quality and operational excellence to achieve best practice in patient satisfaction, patient safety, clinical outcomes, operational alignment, caregiver and provider engagement, financial value and provider satisfaction.
7. Participates in the strategic and long-range planning of the organization. Provides leadership in determining clinical and organizational goals and develops processes to achieve these goals.
8. Provides oversight for productivity and labor management.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education

• Bachelor's Degree of Science in Nursing or related field.
• Master's Degree of Business, or related field.

Required Experience

• Minimum of 10 years of healthcare management experience.
• Significant operating success with operating room oversight in a healthcare leadership role.
• Experience with proven positive outcomes regarding financial sustainability initiatives.
• Experience leading effective sustained process improvement.

Credentials

• Required upon hire: Registered Nurse In the state of practice.
• Preferred upon hire: Certification in process improvement.

Required Skills

• High level of business acumen including intimate knowledge of business.
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance, federal and state laws with a working knowledge of multiple disciplines.
• Proficient in the use of MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
• Strong collaborative skills to foster relationships within Network Leadership Teams.
• Strong written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Leadership ability related to program design and implementation demonstrating financial acumen.
• Ability to conceptualize issues and develop pragmatic solutions.

The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $265,500 – $312,600. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, seniority, etc.
