PeaceHealth is seeking a Supervisor - Patient Transport/Bed Management for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Day position. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $27.47 – $41.21. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

Job Summary

The supervisor will oversee and coordinate the safe, efficient, and timely transport of patient and non-patient related items throughout the hospital, including beds, gurneys, and other necessary equipment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless movement of essential hospital equipment, collaborating with multiple departments to align priorities and manage daily work plans. This position will supervise the transport team, ensuring departmental goals are achieved, timelines met, and service excellence is provided in all aspects of work. Ensures all tasks are completed in a safe and organized manner while maintaining service levels across the hospital.

Essential Functions

  • Supervises and directs a team of transport staff to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
  • Assigns work; plans and manages priorities; provides technical assistance; oversees staff schedules; monitors quality of work; monitors team projects; mentors staff; provides constructive feedback; oversees staff training; ensures quality improvement; provides leadership feedback on staff performance; and assists with goal setting for the team.
  • Oversees the transport of non-patient items, including beds, gurneys, and other equipment, ensuring they are delivered to the appropriate locations in a timely manner. Ensures all transport activities are performed safely, following hospital safety protocols and procedures.
  • Communicates effectively with other teams to understand urgent or prioritized transport needs. Works closely with nursing, facilities, and other hospital departments to ensure the transport of equipment aligns with the daily operational needs and priorities.
  • Develops and maintains daily work schedules for transport staff, ensuring resources are allocated appropriately to meet hospital demands.
  • Coordinates the placement and movement of beds and gurneys to designated areas, ensuring patient care areas are well equipped and ready for use.
  • Ensures all equipment is functional and in proper working condition before transport.
  • Prioritizes transport requests based on urgency, equipment availability, and departmental needs.
  • Maintains awareness of any hazards related to equipment transport and takes proactive measures to address potential risks.
  • Monitors the inventory of transport equipment (beds, gurneys, etc.), ensuring items are returned to designated areas in a timely manner.
  • Assists in tracking and maintaining records of equipment transport and placement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma Required and
  • Associate Degree Preferred: Healthcare.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years Required: Clinical experience in an acute care hospital and
  • Minimum of 1 year Preferred: Previous Leadership experience

Credentials

  • Required Upon Hire: Basic Life Support

Working Conditions

Lifting

  • Consistently operates computer and other office equipment.
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Sedentary work.

Environmental Conditions

  • Predominantly operates in an office environment.
  • Some time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.

Mental/Visual

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
