PeaceHealth is seeking Legal Counsel - ZoomCare in Vancouver, Washington.....

This hybrid role requires the incumbent to be onsite 2 or less days a week.

Serves as a key advisor to PeaceHealth leadership, colleagues on the PeaceHealth legal team, and leadership for PeaceHealth's affiliated entity, ZoomCare. Provides legal advice/counsel and oversight on a broad range of legal, transactional, risk, and regulatory topics. Serves as subject matter expertise in broad areas related to ZoomCare programs.

Essential Functions:
  • In collaboration with the PeaceHealth legal department, presents to, advises, and interacts with the ZoomCare management team and other senior ZoomCare leaders to facilitate an understanding of the salient legal and regulatory risk issues facing ZoomCare.
  • Utilizes strong legal and business acumen required of an individual at the most senior level of an organization to work effectively to integrate and coordinate the key strategic initiatives and business unit operations of the organization.
  • Coordinates outside legal experts to provide advice and counsel regarding state and federal laws, rules and regulations applicable to ZoomCare, including but not limited to HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid, Stark law, Anti-Kickback law, and False Claims Act.
  • Prepares, reviews, and edits legal documents and filings.
  • Conducts legal research and analysis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a practicing attorney of business and health care law. 
  • Substantive expertise in state and federal regulations as they pertain to health care organizations.
  • Member in good standing with the Oregon or Washington bar.
Skills:
  • Excellent judgment and proven experience analyzing risks and making risk determinations. 
  • Demonstrated leadership competencies.
  • Ability to operate in a complex and matrixed corporate environment.
  • Collaborative leader with counterparts in the compliance and regulatory affairs. 
  • Extensive knowledge of health care laws including Stark, Anti-kickback, False Claims Act and familiarity with licensure, certification and accreditation requirements.
  • Strong business acumen with healthcare experience. 

Working Conditions:
  • Consistently operates computer and other office equipment.
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Sedentary work.
  • Predominantly operates in an office environment.
  • Some time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.

The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $151,000.00 – $226,000.00 annually. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.
