PeaceHealth is seeking an experienced RN for a new job opportunity at PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center in Ketchikan, Alaska. The hospital is licensed beds: 25. The OR has five beds (3 main OR, 1 minor procedure and 1 GI suite). You will work in a dynamic and supportive team environment.

Benefits and requirements include:

• Starting wage of $36.38 an hour, more with experience

• Differential - Evening $2.50, and Night $5.00 of the base union rate, $1.00/hour for BSN/MSN (one for each)

JOB SUMMARY

Provides professional nursing direct patient care in compliance with professional practice and unit standards. Promotes a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach towards patients, families and all members of the care delivery team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs.

2. Documents patient care in the healthcare record according to established standards.

3. Directs and delegates care to other team members in accordance with their education, credentials, and demonstrated competence.

4. Ensures own professional effectiveness through education and professional development.

5. Participates in the development of and maintains established hospital policies, procedures and objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection prevention program.

6. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing required.
  • BSN preferred.

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

  • Minimum One year circulating experience in a full-service Operating Room .
  • Ortho experience preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in Alasaka.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required at date of hire.
  • Current ACLS and PALS Certifications required at date of hire.

OTHER SKILLS:

  • Demonstrated ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and patient/family centered work environment
  • Able to support and interpret medical center philosophy, policy and procedures
  • Basic computer skills

PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work requires moderate physical exertion from 34 to 65% of the time.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing 50 lbs. or less.
  • Work requires frequent exposure to minor cold, heat, poor ventilation or sharp instruments. Reasonably anticipated exposure to blood and body fluids once per month or more.
  • Duties require the ability to concentrate or pay close attention to detail for more than 66% of the work time.
