PeaceHealth seeks Director – Health Information Management Portland OR/Vancouver WA 

We seek a Healthcare Director - HIM who has a proven track record for:

• Leading and directing health information management operations across the system; striving for compliance, data integrity, and promoting best practice.
• Leading and maintaining accountability for the overall administration and management of assigned functional areas in an HIM division for both acute care, and provider clinic, business units.
• Developing long and short-term business strategies, operational plans and overseeing implementation.
• Managing the design, structure, development and planning issues.
• Being responsible for quality, service and regulatory compliance for areas of responsibility.

• Director HIM will have oversight of the following functions:

  • Release of information
  • Document management
  • Chart analysis and chart correction

Qualifications for the Director – HIM role include:

• Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Health Records Administration, or related field. Or a combination of education and professional experience that provides the caregiver with the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job.
• RHIT – Registered Health Information Technologist is required.
• RHIA – Registered Health Information Administration certification is preferred
• CHDA – Certified Health Data Analyst preferred.
• Minimum of seven years relevant HIM experience required.
• Minimum of five years of related management experience required. Prior experience as HIM director in an acute care or multi-hospital health system is preferred.
• Strong experience with computerization and technology advance in HIM with heavy emphasis on the electronic patient record preferred.
• Experience with health information systems and healthcare applications.
• Experience with regulations and accreditation standards, knowledge of specific state and federal requirements and standards related to the management of health information.
• Expertise in healthcare compliance: knowledge of privacy and security regulations, confidentiality, laws, access and release of information practices.
