PeaceHealth is seeking a Manager Quality for a Full Time, Day position.

JOB SUMMARY

Manages the coordination of the activities of Quality with responsibility for results including costs, methods, and staffing. Receives assignment in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals In partnership with providers and Quality leadership, leads the quality agenda in area of responsibility (might be communities or program), to reach top decile performance and outcomes. Partners with local Patient Safety, Infection Prevention, and Regulatory consultants to promote patient safety and compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements. Ensures that the organization designs processes well and systematically monitors, analyzes and improves its performance to improve patient outcomes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provides leadership and support for clinical improvement projects using standard tools and methodologies supported at the system level.
  • May serve as co-chair for Quality Management Committee and implements the annual Quality Improvement plan. Monitors performance, institutes and documents improvement initiatives as needed to meet the goals (if responsible for single hospital)
  • Supports the Regulatory team by helping with regulatory readiness and accreditation surveys as needed. Provides coaching to process owners during the development of corrective action plans and audit tools
  • Partners with Patient Safety by participating in the Safety STOP program including taking Safety STOP responder call.
  • Ensures that the community and system have well-designed and reliable processes and systematically monitors, analyzes and improves its performance to ensure high quality patient care, outcomes and experience in a safe and cost-effective manner.
  • Partners with Patient Safety by actively participating in the Safety STOP program.

  • Partners with system and local leadership to achieve system-wide strategic Clinical Excellence initiatives.
  • Supports the Patient Experience efforts by working collaboratively with the Patient Serves as content matter expert for publicly reported measures of quality (e.g. Hospital Compare, Leapfrog group), utilizing system resources as indicated.
  • Partners with the Lean Transformation Office to assure lean approach using standard improvement methodologies and tools.
  • Participate in the budget planning process; authorizes and monitors expenditures, develop and implement cost-savings procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree required or a combination of education and professional experience that provides the incumbent with the requisite knowledge, skills and ability to successfully perform the job.
  • Master’s degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience in quality or performance improvement roles is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience required.
  • Training in S.P.C. (statistical process control) methods preferred.
  • Significant critical access hospital experience in quality or performance improvement if applicable.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) is required within two years of hire.
  • Certification/licensure in a clinical field.

OTHER SKILLS:

  • Ability to deliver financial results for areas of accountability.
  • Advanced skills in QI methodologies and tools.
  • Ability to communicate to multiple audiences, prioritize and maintain perspective for organization’s vision and quality.
  • Able to work effectively with multiple individuals/groups both internally and externally.
  • Able to effectively engage at all levels and teams toward desired outcomes.
  • Understanding of the use of data, data integrity and public reporting.
  • Familiarity with research design helpful.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications.

PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work requires fairly light physical exertion from up to 65% of the time.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing 30 lbs. or less.
  • Work is performed under normal working conditions with adequate lighting and ventilation.
  • Job duties frequently require intense concentration and attention to detail (up to 65% of work time).
