PeaceHealth is seeking an RN- OB GYN - Training Position for a Full Time, Day position.

Experience small town Alaska life and join our dedicated team as we care for our diverse population in Ketchikan. Located in the middle of a rainforest in southern Southeast Alaska, our patients share their experiences of living on a remote island filled with wildlife, culture, and community. Adventures are easy to find whether on hiking trails or exploring the ocean with the whales. Come help us care for our Native Alaskan, Filipino, and Alaska Pioneer community. 

*$15,000 Sign-On Bonus and relocation assistance available*

Provides professional nursing direct patient care in compliance with professional practice and unit standards. Promotes a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach towards patients, families and all members of the care delivery team.

Details of the Position:

  1. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs.
  2. Documents patient care in the healthcare record according to established standards.
  3. Directs and delegates care to other team members in accordance with their education, credentials, and demonstrated competence.
  4. Ensures own professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
  5. Participates in the development of and maintains established hospital policies, procedures and objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection prevention program.
  6. Performs other duties as assigned.

What you bring:

  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing required.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Specialty certification preferred.
  • A minimum of one year clinical experience as a Staff Nurse preferred or will orient to point of competency preferred.
  • Labor/Delivery/Post-Partum/Newborn nursing experience preferred, or will orient to point of competency preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs.
  • State of Alaska RN License.
  • BLS required.
  • ACLS required at date of hire or within 6 months.
  • NRP required at date of hire or within 6 months.
  • AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Course required within 6 months.

Other Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and patient/family centered work environment.
  • Able to support and interpret medical center philosophy, policy and procedures
  • Basic computer skills.

PeaceHealth has been serving the communities of Southeast Alaska since 1923 with Ketchikan Medical Center, a 25-bed critical-access hospital offering comprehensive trauma care, outpatient and home health services, and a 29-bed long-term care facility. Primary and specialty medical care is provided by PeaceHealth Medical Group—Ketchikan and Prince of Wales Island. Our Trauma IV emergency department operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, staffed by physicians who are independent contractors employed by National Emergency Services (NES).
