Job Description


PeaceHealth is seeking a Prospect Researcher for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Day position.

Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 including 2 doses of a 2-dose series or 1 dose of a 1-dose series plus 14 days beyond the final dose prior to start date.

This position can be performed fully remote. If telecommuting, PeaceHealth will provide the caregiver with necessary computer equipment. It is the responsibility of the caregiver to provide High-Speed Internet access. Caregiver must reside in OR, WA, or AK.


Responsible for identifying, researching, and analyzing prospects for major gift cultivation and solicitation. Identifies and qualifies major donor prospects who have the propensity and capacity to support PeaceHealth. Facilitates the cultivation and solicitation of top prospects as well as provides the function of portfolio optimization.


  • Proactively identifies, qualifies, and tracks prospects for significant mid-level gifts, major and transformational gift prospects to achieve fundraising goals.
  • Develops prospect profile briefing documents and recommends prioritization, portfolio assignment and engagement strategies to the development teams.
  • Fields prospect research requests from the foundations and provides in-depth research that drives cultivation and solicitation strategies.
  • Works closely with major donor asks to ensure proper research is conducted post-ask and ask amounts are commensurate with propensity and capacity.
  • Builds out constituent records in Raiser’s Edge with information gleaned from research; ensures all records with research ratings have information in the following fields: business, education, notes, gifts to other organizations, relationships, demographic codes, etc.
  • Partners with fundraisers and team members to provide timely, accurate, and analytical information to inform the fundraising process; participates in prospect review meetings as needed and helps develop fundraising ask strategies.
  • Interprets and analyzes biographical and financial information on individuals, corporations and foundations, based on fundraising strategies and objectives.
  • Supports the establishment and implementation of best practices for data-driven prospect management across all divisions and units across PeaceHealth.
  • Attends and serves on professional organizations as foundations’ representative as required. Performs other duties as assigned.



  • Bachelor's degree in business, non-profit management, fundraising, or related field or equivalent knowledge and skills obtained through a combination of education, training and experience required.


  • Minimum of 3 years of proven success in identifying prospects and recommending research-based donor engagement strategies for a mission-based organization.
  • Ability to work in a multi-unit, complex environment, resulting in significant improved development performance and growth



  • Ability to extract and analyze data.
  • In-depth knowledge of multiple accepted research sources, internet search skills, relevant media outlets and resources, philanthropic trends and the non-profit field in general.
  • Commitment to basic prospect research ethics.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Ability to think strategically and influence others.

  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office products


  • Work requires fairly light physical exertion from up to 65% of the time.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing 30 lbs. or less.
  • Work is performed under normal working conditions with adequate lighting and ventilation.
  • Job duties frequently require intense concentration and attention to detail (up to 65% of work time).
