PeaceHealth is seeking a Sr Physician Contracting Specialist for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Day position. Hourly compensation starts at $28.34, more depending on experience.
Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 including 2 doses of a 2-dose series or 1 dose of a 1-dose series plus 14 days beyond the final dose prior to start date.

The Sr Physician Contracting Specialist serves as the primary liaison representing non-employed physician contracting across the PeaceHealth system for contracts and contract revisions, including professional services agreements, call coverage agreements and medical director agreements. Primary responsibilities include working directly with network administrators, contracted physician groups, PeaceHealth leadership, System Physician Contracting Committee (“Committee”), Legal Department, MediTract contract administration, and System Director of Physician Contracting. Aware of established legal and financial guidelines and PeaceHealth policies and procedures related to physician contracting and compensation. Prepares agenda for twice per month Committee meeting chaired by EVP/COO and monthly network non-employed physician contracting committee meeting. Provides regular and ad hoc reporting on non-employed physician contract and compensation related issues to network and system leadership.
Details of the position:
- Serves as the point of contact for network leadership and contracted physician groups for non-employed physician contracts and contract revisions. Reviews contract language and applicable data with network leadership in support of financial analysis for business, legal and compliance aspects of non-employed medical director agreements, call coverage agreements and non-employed professional service agreements.
- Participates in salary surveys, analyzes market data, and compiles data for the determination of fair market value-based compensation. Develops comparative data used in determining compensation models. Performs financial modeling, conducts internal valuations and assessments, and obtains external valuations as needed for each agreement to ensure compliance with policies and regulatory requirements. Reviews and confirms Fair Market Value for contract workflows in the contract database
- Supports network leadership in negotiation of non-employed medical director agreements and provides data as requested. Participates in identifying and developing improved processes and workflows in coordination with stakeholders. Contributes to designing and implementing electronic workflow, auditing, tracking, and approval processes. Communicates detailed guidelines and changes to the non-employed physician compensation processes to all appropriate individuals.
- Maintains and audits data across multiple systems (MDRanger contract database, contract tracking spreadsheet and MediTract) and departments within PeaceHealth, identifying errors. Ensures corrections are made and communicated as needed.
- Supports and coordinates centralized non-employed physician contract administration, compliance, processes, and database management. Identifies and analyzes needs and assists with implementing processes and workflows to support non-employed physician policies and practices. Supports the implementation of contract procedures and other efficiency tools through the electronic contract process management system and fair market value tools.
- Supports system leadership, network leadership, legal department, and MediTract contract coordinators with contract intake and workflows and assists with obtaining required review and approvals as part of the electronic contract process management system. Facilitates the approval process from pre-contract through post-signature phases.
- Supports the process to ensure monthly payments are made to contract physicians and monthly time logs are received, completed and comply with established duties outlined in physician contract. Analyzes and provides data to support adherence to contract guidelines and PeaceHealth policies and procedures when a contract renewal is being prepared.
- Provides on-going collaboration with system legal department to establish and maintain contract language and ensure legal and regulatory compliance across all PeaceHealth networks.
- Serves as the primary resource for network leadership to answer questions, provide research, compile data and resolve issues related to physician contracting and associated changes. Prepares agenda for and facilitates weekly and monthly network physician contracting meetings.
- Coordinates with PHMG Finance for PeaceHealth as provider contracts with outside entities to ensure fair market value-based compensation, appropriate documentation and billing.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What you bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources or related field preferred; or a combination of education, training and experience that provides the caregiver with the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
- Minimum of five years in finance, human resources, contracting, legal department, or progressive healthcare administration experience that includes work with compensation required.
- Experience with physician/provider contracting required.
- Experience in reviewing fair market value analysis is preferred.
