Job Description


PeaceHealth is seeking a System Director Compensation for a Full Time, Day position. 

Provides system-wide leadership, direction and management of caregiver compensation. This leadership position is responsible for the research and development of programs and processes that support organizational imperatives and outcomes and optimize the stewardship of resources.


  1. Develops, implements and sustains compensation programs to support business and HR initiatives, including alignment with required business deliverables, desired people behaviors or other requirements. Establishes goals, strategies, action plans and measurements required to drive innovation and maximize success.
  2. Closely collaborates with HR leadership to support the overall human resources vision, strategy and objectives. Creates and leverages relationships with peers, key internal customers and external contacts to resolve complex or unusual business problems.
  3. Effectively communicates plans, approach and design to ensure that compensation programs are fully understood and appropriately valued by caregivers, providers and leadership.
  4. Provides motivation, coaching, training and developmental opportunities to assigned staff. This includes regular formal and informal feedback to ensure performance appraisals and the identification of developmental needs is fair, accurate and effectively communicated.
  5. Partners with HR senior leaders in the development, preparation and analysis of compensation materials for executive leadership teams and executive committees of the Board. 
  6. Provides leadership and direction to the Compensation staff, creating and communicating a vision that motivates them to pursue high standards of excellence and making real the HR vision statement of exceptional and compassionate service to each caregiver, every time, every touch.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field required.
  • Master’s degree or a combination of education and professional experience that provides the caregiver with the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the job required.


  • Minimum of 7 years of human resources leadership experience, preferably in the healthcare industry, required.
  • Minimum of 5 years specializing in compensation, preferably at a corporate level.
  • Experience working in a shared services environment and working knowledge of organizational development and change management.

  • Knowledge of complex organizational structures and cultures.
  • Thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of compensation and benefit programs and strategies.
  • Demonstrated excellent change management skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal/written communication skills .

Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 including 2 doses of a 2-dose series or 1 dose of a 1-dose series plus 14 days beyond the final dose prior to start date.
