PeaceHealth is seeking a Pharmacist Intern for a Per Diem/Relief, 0.00 FTE, Variable position. Hourly compensation is $22.15 - $33.22; hiring rate dependent on qualifications and professional experience.

Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 including 2 doses of a 2-dose series or 1 dose of a 1-dose series plus 14 days beyond the final dose prior to start date.

JOB SUMMARY

This position performs the basic job functions as a pharmacist while under the direct supervision of a pharmacist as a means of fulfilling the requirements of the State Board of Pharmacy for licensure. This job teaches the intern the basic concepts for providing pharmaceutical care.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Package and deliver medications to patients.
  2. Interpret and input physician orders into the hospital computer system.
  3. Function as a pharmacy technician while learning (and observing) the duties and responsibilities of a pharmacist.
  4. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited School of Pharmacy or recent graduate with a Bachelor of Science – Pharmacy degree.

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

  • Current PI or PII pharmacy school student.
  • Working knowledge of Federal and State pharmaceutical rules, regulations, laws and procedures applicable to the profession.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

  • Current state Pharmacy Intern license/registration
  • *Pharmacy Assistant License not required*

OTHER SKILLS:

  • Proficient computer and keyboarding skills including MS Office applications
  • Good mathematical and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Must be receptive to learning how to plan, prioritize and organize workflow in a dynamic and sometimes chaotic environment.

LONGVIEW PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work requires fairly light physical exertion up to 33% of the time.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing 30 lbs. or less.
  • Work is performed under normal working conditions with adequate lighting and ventilation. Reasonably anticipated exposure to blood and body fluids.
  • Duties require the ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail (more than 65% of work time).
