PeaceHealth is seeking a Recreation Therapist - Psychiatry for a Per Diem/Relief, 0.00 FTE, Day position.  Hourly compensation starts at $28.34, more depending on experience.

Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 including 2 doses of a 2-dose series or 1 dose of a 1-dose series plus 14 days beyond the final dose prior to start date.

Job Summary

Provides recreational services to patients and families. Responsible for assisting in the planning, supervision, implementation, and evaluation of the Therapeutic Recreation program which includes activities of a physical, functional, social and cultural nature. Works as part of the healthcare team to assist patients to maximize their potential.

Details of the position

  1. Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates patient care needs as it relates to therapeutic recreation.
  2. Documents patient care in health record according to standards.
  3. Participates in process improvement activities.
  4. Ensures own professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
  5. Responsible for recreation therapy program development.
  6. Performs other duties as assigned.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree curriculum with an emphasis in therapeutic recreation required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist with the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation is required.
  • Current credential as required by State to perform the work of a Recreation Therapist.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required at date of hire.
  • Valid driver’s license if position requires.
  • Training and experience commensurate with certification requirements.

Region/Location Specific Notes

  • For Rehab positions: Experience with neurological patients in a hospital setting or experience working with a disabled population is preferred. Must have completed successful field work experience. Knowledge of community’s leisure and support opportunities helpful.
  • For Behavioral Health positions: Experience with psychiatric patients in a hospital setting is preferred. Demonstrated ability to work with mentally, emotionally, or socially impaired individuals. Knowledge of community’s leisure and support opportunities helpful.
